Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health authorities during a search of a home in Glengormley.
A male was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently supplying impotence medicines through the web.
The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medicine offences.
He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.
The search was performed by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: “It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be unsafe.
“These kinds of products being offered, generally online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their security.
“You just do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this may have on your health.”
